2022 Honda Classic prop bet picks and PGA Tour predictions

The four-day 2022 Honda Classic tees off Thursday at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Below, we’ll look for the best value prop bets in the 2022 Honda Classic odds, with placings and first-round leader picks and predictions.

It will be interesting to see whether the tournament will be overshadowed by one of the biggest stories ever to hit the golf world. We are, of course, talking about Phil Micklelson, who happened to finish T25 at last year’s Honda.

As has been well documented, the Champions Course at PGA National may not be long for Tour standards, at only 7,215 yards and playing to a par 70, it is known as one of the notoriously most difficult courses, especially if the wind picks up.

Sunday should once again provide high drama with the existence of a stretch of finishing holes referred to as the Bear Trap (15, 16, and 17).

While picking a winner on the PGA Tour is never easy, we do like some prop bets which can pay off big as well as a handful of top-10 and top-20 finishers.

2022 Honda Classic top-10 picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 1:10 a.m. ET

Top 10: Sungjae Im (+170)

Im finished T8 at the Honda last year and took home the trophy in 2020. His +170 PRICE to finish T10 is definitely worth a wager this time around.

He is ranked 20th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

Top 10: Matt Jones (+480)

Jones won the 2021 Honda Classic. His opening 61 a year ago was the best of any player at this event since 2007 and the 11th best on Tour since 2004. Jones’ 5-shot win tied the tournament’s largest margin of victory, matching Jack Nicklaus (1977) and Camilo Villegas (2010).

Other T10 contenders (in order from longest odds to shortest):

  • Rory Sabbatini (+1200)
  • Dylan Fritelli (+1000)
  • Sam Ryder (+1000)
  • Zach Johnson (+750)
  • Cameron Young (+500)

2022 Honda Classic top-20 picks

These seven golfers are worthy of T20 wagers, including 2017 Honda Classic winner and fan favorite Rickie Fowler, who is desperately in need of a strong finish.

  • Nick Watney (+900)
  • Jimmy Walker (+900)
  • Harry Higgs (+550)
  • Vaughn Taylor (+550)
  • Vincent Whaley (+550)
  • Danny Willett (+550)
  • Rickie Fowler (+280)

The 2017 Honda Classic winner and fan favorite Fowler is desperately in need of a strong finish and is worth a shot at finishing T20.

2022 Honda Classic first-round leader

Joaquin Niemann (+3000)

Last week’s winner Niemann (Genesis Invitational) along with Brooks Koepka, Louis Oosthuizen, and Sungjae Im are all worth tossing some money at as your opening-round leader – all four are listed at +3000 to do so.

2022 Honda Classic bonus prop bet

Will there be a playoff? Yes: (+300)

Doesn’t it seem like playoffs are more common lately?

With parity on the Tour, I really like this +300 PROP to watch some extra golf Sunday.
