Penn State at Maryland odds, picks and prediction

The Penn State Nittany Lions (11-12, 6-9 Big Ten) and Maryland Terrapins (12-14, 4-11) will battle Monday night in College Park, Md. The contest at the Xfinity Center is slated to tip off at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Penn State vs. Maryland odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Penn State is coming off its largest margin of victory of the season. The Nittany Lions handled the visiting Minnesota Golden Gophers 67-46 Thursday. The PSU defense was sharp and has now held foes to a 37.7% mark from the floor over its last six games. However, Penn State has lost its last five road games, last prevailing away from home Jan. 5 at Northwestern.

The Terrapins won at Nebraska 90-74 Friday, snapping a five-game losing streak. The 90 points was the Terps’ most in a regulation game this season. Maryland nearly upset No. 7 Purdue in its previous game, falling 62-61 after leading for more than 10 minutes of the second half.

Penn State at Maryland odds, lines, picks and predictions

Maryland 68, Penn State 65

Money line

Slow-tempo Penn State plays good defense, but Maryland has been respectable against top defensive teams in this league. The Terps have played a much tougher schedule of late and figures to have key edges in the turnover exchange and churn at the foul line.

Maryland would be a decent play at -150, but PASS on the current tag.

Against the spread

Look for a Nittany Lions slip in a contest that marks their lone road game between Feb. 13-March 2.

On a small lean (consider a partial-unit play) TAKE MARYLAND -2.5 (-112).

The Over is 3-1 in Maryland’s last four games.

Neither team is strong defending the perimeter. TAKE THE OVER 128.5 (-115) in what is likely the strongest play in this one.
