Georgetown at Marquette odds, picks and prediction

The Georgetown Hoyas (6-18, 0-13 Big East) and Marquette Golden Eagles (16-9, 8-6) tangle Wednesday in Milwaukee. The contest at the Fiserv Forum will tip off at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Georgetown vs. Marquette odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Georgetown arrives in Milwaukee having lost 14 in a row. GU is 0-9 in road/neutral games this season. The Hoyas have shot under 40% from the floor in each of those nine games, the most recent of which was Monday at Creighton.  GU fell to the Golden Eagles at home — by a final of 92-64 — Jan. 7.

Marquette held the Hoyas to a 29.9% mark from the floor in that first meeting. On the season, MU ranks quite well in defending the hoop, but the Eagles head into this game having allowed a 47.9% mark over their last two games. Marquette lost both — at UConn and at Butler — and has dropped three of its last four.

Money line

PASS. Peg the true odds as being lost in the canyon between these prices.

Against the spread

GU has logged some solid defensive performances — albeit inconsistently — in recent weeks. The Hoyas have the offensive rebounding  and distance shooting capabilities to keep this one within 10.

BACK GEORGETOWN +12.5 (-107).

The Over is 4-0 in Georgetown’s last four against teams with a winning straight-up record. The Over is 4-1-1 in the Golden Eagles’ last six games following a straight-up loss.

With two rabbit teams, the lean here is on the OVER 154.5 (-107). But the total has already climbed a couple points during the morning. That takes some starch out of the value. Consider a small play and a line watch to see if more can be added at a lower total.
