The Los Angeles Lakers (35-23) make the first stop on a four-game road trip against the Dallas Mavericks (31-26) Thursday at American Airlines Center. Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Lakers-Mavericks odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Lakers are expected to welcome back Anthony Davis to the lineup for the first time since Feb. 14, barring any setbacks during warm-ups.

The good news keeps coming, too, as there are reports LeBron James (ankle) is just one week behind A.D. in his recovery.

L.A. has alternated wins and losses in each of their past 12 games, and they’re 6-6 ATS during the span, as the reserves have at least kept the team’s collective head above water with the two stars on the shelf.

The Mavericks won 127-117 over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, as the visitors backdoored anybody laying the 10.5-point spread. Dallas enters on an 0-6 ATS skid since its last cover back on April 8.

Lakers at Mavericks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lakers 117, Mavericks 109

Money line (ML)

The LAKERS (+110) will get a shot in the arm with the return of Davis, as they get one of their biggest stars back.

It might take a little bit to knock off the rust, so a slow start is expected. However, look for L.A. to pull away in the second half once A.D. gets his sea legs back.

Against the spread (ATS)

The LAKERS +2 (-110) play doesn’t make a ton of sense, as it’s better to just bet them straight up on the money line for a better value. But if you feel the Mavericks -2 (-110) are going to win by one for the L.A. cover, or two for the push, have at it.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 217.5 (-110) is the play in this game. L.A. has hit the Over in four of the past five on the road, and four of the last five as an underdog. They’re also hitting the Over at a 6-2 clip across the past eight, now they get A.D. back.

It’s been all about the Under lately for the Mavs, going 11-3 in their past 14 at home. However, the Over is 4-1 in their past five as a favorite.
