San Jose Sharks at Vegas Golden Knights: By the Numbers

  • Vegas landed the biggest fish at the NHL trade deadline, and Mark Stone is paying huge dividends. He has six goals, eight points and a plus-4 rating through three playoff games.
  • San Jose’s Joe Thornton was suspended for Game 4 by NHL Player Safety for his hit to the head on Vegas F Tomas Nosek.
  • Sharks D Erik Karlsson leads the team in assists and points with five.
  •  The Sharks have dropped six of their past eight meetings at T-Mobile Arena.

San Jose Sharks at Vegas Golden Knights: Projected Goalie Starters

Marc-Andre Fleury vs. Martin Jones

Fleury has won two of three starts in this series, but he has been dinged for at least three goals in each outing, posting a subpar 3.35 goals-against average and .897 save percentage. That includes 25 saves on 28 shots in Sunday’s 6-3 victory in Game 3.

Jones has been terrible in this series, and it’s amazing the Sharks are only down 2-1 in the series. He was yanked in Game 2, and he has a 5.23 GAA with an .849 save percentage in the series. Jones allowed a goal in the first minute of each of the three periods in Game 3, giving up six goals in the loss.

San Jose Sharks at Vegas Golden Knights: NHL Best Bet

Moneyline: The Sharks (+130) have shown an ability to score goals, but Jones has been sieve in the past two outings. San Jose simply cannot be trusted due to his inability to stop shots. The Golden Knights are the better play at a moderate price (-155), as they look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.

Against the spread: The Sharks (+1.5, -200) aren’t worth playing on the puck line until Jones starts to tighten up in between the pipes. The Golden Knights (-1.5, +170) are a decent value at home, as they’ll score plenty in what could be another lopsided win. Also, the San Jose offense could be disrupted with Jumbo suspended.

Over/under: The over has cashed in each of the first three games in this series, and you can expect another high-scoring affair in this one. The struggles for Jones have been going on all season, as he had a subpar 2.94 GAA during the regular season. Pound the OVER 6.5 (+100).
