The NBA Playoffs begin Saturday and 16 NBA teams start their quest for the 2018-19 NBA Championship.
While there are 16 teams competing for the Championship, not all things are equal – or fair, depending on your point of view – but all of the teams have a chance (enter “So you’re saying there’s a chance…” joke here) to raise the Championship. Unfortunately for 15 of them, the odds are heavily stacked against them.
As you can likely guess, the Golden State Warriors are the heavy favorites to win the NBA Championship this year. I know, I know, you never saw that coming and I probably should have led with a spoiler alert.
Just how chalky are the Golden State Warriors?
Per SportsLine, their probability odds of winning are a staggering 70.4 percent.
That’s not a typo. A win would give Golden State their sixth NBA Championship, including their fourth since 2015 and third consecutive.
Fear not fans of other teams, the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics have better than five-percent probability odds, coming in at 8.4 and 5.4 percent, respectively. The Denver Nuggets, who we noted are a good team to fade during the NBA Playoffs, sit at 3.8 percent and the Toronto Raptors round out the top five at 2.7 percent. Here’s the full-listing, where seven teams have less than one-percent odds of success this post-season.
NBA Championship Probability Odds
