Betting Business: New Jersey posts record-setting sports betting revenue in March

March Madness powered the sports-wagering world during March ’19 and sportsbooks operating in New Jersey went on to post one heck of a month because of it.

New Jersey’s 10 retail sportsbooks and 13 online sports wagering platforms cashed in during March, according to NJGamblingSites.com, as the state saw $31.7 million in combined revenue – a record-setting level.

That’s up from $12,732,740 that the state operators earned during February.

Keep in mind those March numbers do NOT include the Final Four or National Championship wagers, so the start of April was probably pretty lucrative, too. We’ll have a better picture of that a month from now.

Other tidbits from New Jersey’s March Data

  • Mobile sports betting powered $298.3M of the overall handle for March.
  • FanDuel Sportsbook at The Meadowlands was the leader of the pack. They had more than $17M in total revenue for the month.

Statement from FanDuel regarding the numbers from  New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE):

“The FanDuel Sportsbook continues to be the top operator in the New Jersey market both in mobile and retail. There was incredible excitement for March Madness, noted by record-breaking revenue numbers for the FanDuel Sportsbook, which had the biggest revenue month for any operator since the launch of legalized sports betting in New Jersey last June.”
