MLB Picks and Bets: St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers

The St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers continue their NL Central battle at 8:10 p.m. Eastern from Miller Park.

The Brewers took Game 1 by a score of 5-4 after falling down 3-0 in the top half of the second inning. Starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin‘s solo homer in the fifth inning stood up as the winning run.

RHP Jack Flaherty vs. RHP Freddy Peralta

The two sophomore pitchers total just 45 years of age, with Flaherty the senior at age 23.

He finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting as a rookie, pitching to a 3.34 ERA with an unlucky 8-9 record over 28 starts in 2018. He struck out 10.8 batters per nine and allowed just 1.2 homers. He allowed just two runs over two starts and 12 innings at Miller Park last season.

Peralta walked 4.6 per nine last year, but he limited the damage with just 0.9 homers allowed and was typically able to pitch his way out of trouble with an 11.0 K/9.
