NFL Future Odds: Placing your bets on the NFC South

In a division where Atlanta and Carolina have both been Super Bowl participants in recent years, New Orleans has been snake-bit by a Minnesota Miracle and blown call against the Los Angeles Rams from potentially going to the last two Super Bowls. However, the Saints remain a distinct favorite to put themselves in position to go to Super Bowl LIV and fulfill their belated destiny (odds provided by PointsBet.com)

New Orleans Saints (+400)

The co-favorite to win the NFC title, the offseason priority has been re-signing their own players (eight to date) and picking their spots in free agency. They have a good thing going in the Big Easy and deserve to be the pre-preseason favorite to make another deep run.

Atlanta Falcons (+1400)

The Falcons fell hard last season coming off a Super Bowl collapse and have more losses than gains (RB Tevin Coleman, OT Ryan Schraeder, DEs Bruce Irvin and Brooks Reid and CBs Robert Alford, Justin Bethel and Ryan Poole). They will need an impactful draft to compete in 2019 and will be fighting uphill.

Carolina Panthers (+2500)

The Panthers’ only significant free-agent signings (C Matt Paradis and DE Bruce Irvin) were made simply to fill glaring obvious needs and the team has many more free-agent losses than gains this offseason. QB Cam Newton’s long-term future is in serious question and, as we’ve learned over the years, if Cam isn’t right, neither are the Panthers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2800)

The Bucs had the worst scoring defense in the NFL last season and haven’t done enough to change that so far this offseason. The receiver corps got worse, making the Bucs a liability on both sides of the ball and a poisonous early-speculation pick. WR Mike Evans is a stud, but losing WR DeSean Jackson (trade to Philadelphia Eagles) and WR Adam Humphries (free-agent signing by Tennessee Titans) puts him on an island and QB Jameis Winston needs more options.
