Memphis is barely a week into spring football practice, but the Memphis Tigers are starting to get national attention for their 2019 schedule.
According to a report from Stadium’s Brett McMurphy, Memphis is one of seven schools projected to be favored in every regular-season game by offshore gambling site betonline.ag, and the only Group of Five school in that mix.
The other six schools are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma and Washington.
It’s a favorable look for Memphis, which will play six home games instead of seven for the first time since 2015.
Last season Memphis was favored in every regular-season game except against Central Florida and at Missouri. The Tigers finished 8-3 in games in which they were favored last season, with losses coming against Navy, Tulane and Wake Forest.
According to teamrankings.com, Memphis was 5-1 last year against the spread when listed as a home favorite. The Tigers were also 6-3 against the spread in conference games, including the AAC championship.
Memphis’ schedule this year includes a home game against Ole Miss to open the season, a game against Navy on Sept. 26 and a three-game slate at Houston, at South Florida and against Cincinnati to close the season.
The Tigers and coach Mike Norvell return 14 starters next season despite losing offensive weapons Tony Pollard and Darrell Henderson.
