Large spreads in March Madness provide profit opportunity

Selection Sunday is in the books and the stage for March Madness is set. And so are the odds for the first-round of the men’s college basketball tournament.

Sportsbooks are busy releasing their odds for each matchup and some aren’t even slightly surprising. However, there are some games that provide profit opportunity due to more than opportunistic lines.

Here’s a quick look large spreads, courtesy of PointsBet.

March Madness spreads larger than 20 points

No matter how good of a team, crazy things are known to happen during March Madness. Even matchups that would generally be viewed as one-sided have a tendency to have a closer score as both teams are emotionally charged to be playing on such a large stage – sometimes the smaller schools are even more emotionally invested in the game just to show they deserved to be invited to the dance. Any spread 20-plus points has a ton of margin of opportunity in the betting space.

Iona (+24.5) at North Carolina (-24.5)

Gardner Webb (+23.5) at Virginia (-23.5)

Abilene Christian (+22.5) at Kentucky (-22.5)

March Madness spreads larger than 15 points

15-plus point spreads aren’t as attractive as 20-plus, but they sure are tempting due to the margin of opportunity during the game.

Bradley (+18.5) at Michigan State (-18.5)

Colgate (+17.5) at Tennessee (-17.5)

Montana (+15.5) at Michigan (-15.5)

March Madness spreads larger than 10 points

Northern Kentucky (+14) at Texas Tech (-14)

Old Dominion (+13) at Purdue (-13)

Georgia State (+12) at Houston U (-12)

Vermont (+10.5) at Florida State (-10.5)

Saint Louis (+10.5) at Virginia Tech (-10.5)
